Disposable Cookbox Range
The Cookbox gives consumers choice in the home disposable market;
This Cookbox is unique in that it is able to be used in microwaves, conventional ovens and combination ovens as these move into the domestic market e.g. turbo chefs and merry chef ovens in the next few years.
The packaging can be frozen with food in the box, or held in the fridge in the box until required, then cooked eaten out of or served from for a family meal at the table.
To date there have not been any board disposables, only foil options capable of being heated in ovens and able to withstand an element of abuse heating.
How the Cookbox can be used.
We have carried out our own customer panels and usage panels and have established how customers would like to use the packaging.
Usage occasions for the Cookbox
Many varied occasions depending on life-stage and whether they are scratch cooks.
For cooking or baking for the freezer for single or bulk portions, then heating at home or in the office.
For cooking on holiday in self-catering situations
To meet the demand for ultra convenience in the kitchen.
Large trays for cooking for parties and Christmas - consumers love the idea of being able to freeze and put straight in the oven as it is so convenient.
For children's parties/teenager's gathering to put in boxes and serve all prepared.
Cooking times using the Cookbox
Cooking times take on average slightly less time than their traditional counterparts.
We recommend an oven temperature of 200°C and gas mark six for cooking in the box, as this allows for the oven's variability in heat and length of cooking time. This is relevant for both chilled and frozen products.
Key benefits of using the Cookbox for disposables
Can be used in microwave, domestic, industrial or combination ovens
Saves time when doing entertaining by reducing washing up and preparation time in the kitchen
Cook from frozen or chilled in same Cookbox.
The packaging eliminates the need for washing up as it can be put in bin.
When compared to foil, the products do not stick to the base and panellists felt they performed better than ordinary trays, too.
Technical specification
The Cookbox has been independently accredited by Campden and Chorleywood and meets European migration standards.
The print retains its brightness and the board does not blister or smell.
How the Cookbox will be packed
Stack packed in 4/5's and shrink-wrapped with a simple label to minimise packaging. Each box would have a panel on the side to be able to write what is in the box and date it. How to use the packaging will be endorsed on the base of each box.
Packaging look and feel
This is the look and feel of the generic range, we are able to do bespoke designs provided volumes are sufficient.
